These Menus give additional functionality to the customer
screen. To bring them up click on the
Menu tab in the upper left corner of the customer screen
Setting the Purchase Method – YOU MUST DO THIS NOW

The
program has two ways to bill the customer depending on which method you wish to
use you need to tell the program how to do the billing.
Do you want:
box deal – sell X
boxes and give a package deal
standard – sell
each box at a price, this way you can
keep records of the profit you make on
each item
|
To set this option start the Horizon program and when it is
launched in the upper left corner of the screen there is a tab that says
Menu. Click the Menu tab with the stylus
pen and then the 3 Menu options appear Edit, Report, and Misc. Click on the Misc Menu and then Preferences
in the Misc Sub Menu. In the Preferences
window the field called Purchase Method is where you would choose either Box
Deal or Standard. When Finished click on
the Save button on the bottom of the screen.
Help System
On various screens in the program there is a ? button. This button brings up the help on that
screen. For example the ? button on any
screen that displays a customer’s information will bring up the help on the
customer information screen. The help on
the customer display would tell you about the other buttons on that screen.

Custom Fields |
To add/edit/delete a customer click the Menu tab in the upper left
corner of the screen. Then click on the Edit Menu and your options are:
New Cust – To add a customer to thedatabase
Edit Cust – To make changes to the currently displayed customer
Delete Cust – To delete the current customer from the database
If you click on delete accidentally click no in the
confirmation popup.
The Edit and New customer choices bring you to the same
screen. The only difference is the
personal information on file will populate the fields so you only need to
add/change.
The buttons along the bottom are:
? – Help on the customer data options
Custom – Brings you to the custom data field screen
Save – To commit the changes to the database
Cancel – To ignore the changes made
Modifying the Custom Field Names

- How - To change the names of the custom fields that show up when
you click on the Custom button in the New/Edit Customer screen click on
the Menu tab in the upper left corner, then the Misc Menu and the
Custom Fields option in the Misc Sub Menu. This will bring up the
screen where you can change the names from the default of Misc Field 1
through Misc Field 8. When finished click the Save button to
commit the changes to memory or click the cancel button to ignore the
changes.
- Why - These fields are there so that any additional information
about a customer that you wish to add to the records can be stored.
They are searchable just like the regular fields like city or
name. Examples are add a dogs name, allergies, etc

Generating Reports
Any sales that are made after the program is installed on
the Palm Handheld are available to have reports made on them. Any sales made previous to installation are
not available. To generate reports click
on the Menu Tab in the upper left corner then Report to choose the Report Menu
and then click the report you wish to generate from the Report Sub Menu.
Backing up the Unit

Hotsync Manager

- How
- The Hotsync function of the palm is what you need to use to backup
the unit. The computer you are going to do the backup to needs to
have the palm desktop software installed. The software and the
cable needed to transfer the data should be included with the handheld
at purchase time. When it is installed on the computer a program
called hotsync manager needs to be running to perform a hotsync.
Next to the clock there should be a blue and red color version of the
circle icon in the picture to the left. When the hotsync manager
is running and the cable is connected to the computer and the handheld
then you just need to click on the hotsync icon on the palm. The
first time that a hotysnc is performed you want to use the hotsync from
the main application list screen of the palm. This way you can
make sure that the options are set correctly.
The options you
want are Local not Modem and Cradle/Cable, just like in the image
above. When set click on the hotsync button in the middle of the
screen. In the future when the options are set correctly you can
then click on the hotsync icon on the cradle or in the upper right of
the area where you write in letters/numbers. The icon there is
usually either the same as the hotsync button from above or a star.
- Why
- If the battery were to completely drain then all the data on the unit
could be lost. To avoid this you need to periodically back the
unit up. Also any customer information you put in the palm that
does not also get into the Horizon computer at your office will also be
lost.

Charging the Unit
Use the wall charger included with the handheld at purchase
time. Another option is a car cigarette
lighter style charger. Under normal conditions you can keep your handheld battery
charged by using a charger for 15 to 30 minutes each day.

To delete a product, add a new product or to change the
price of an existing one you need to click on the Menu tab in the upper left corner
of the screen then the Misc Menu and the Product Maint Sub Menu.
- Add - From the Product Maintenance screen you can click the New button to add a product to the database.
That will bring up a screen where you can add the information about the
product. When finished click the Save
button to add the product or click the Cancel button to ignore.
- Edit/Delete - browse through the listing and then click on the product name.
To edit the item make the changes and click save to commit or cancel to ignore
To delete click on the Delete button on the bottom of the screen, and yes to confirm.
