Installation Instructions for the Horizon Palm Program

In order to install you must have the Palm Desktop software installed on your computer. If you do not have the Palm Desktop installed already you can download it from the palm website. From there choose the version of windows you are using and the version of Palm Handheld that you wish to install the Horizon Palm program onto.

Windows Computers

• Inside the attached zip file is an executable that contains the full version of the Horizon Foods Palm software and the customer database associated with the name. For example the file would be named Horizon_John_Doe.exe
• To install the software first hotsync the palm with the computer, there are three options for the hotsync:
• If you have never performed a hotsync on the palm the hotsync manager will bring up a list of users already on the computer and ask you to add a new one or assign the palm to an existing user. Choose to add a user by clicking on New and adding the username and click ok. Make sure that user is highlighted and click on ok again to hotsync the palm
• If you have performed a hotsync on the palm but not on this computer the hotsync manager will ask you to create a new account on this pc. Click ok
• If you have performed a hotsync on the palm and on the computer you wish to install the software from you should just perform the hotsync as usual
• At this point you should have performed a hotsync one time
• Launch the horizon install program and click next. For example Horizon_John_Doe.exe
• Choose Palm OS 4 or 5 depending on your palm os version. To find out your version go to the main section where all the applications are listed (home button if you have one). Then click on the time to bring up a menu (or the menu button if you have one). Then choose Info. In the screen that comes up choose version. If your Palm OS Software is 5.anything uses Palm OS 5, if it is 3.anything or 4.anything choose Palm OS 4.
• Click next to install to c:\hpalmexp
• Choose the user name of the palm the program is to install on. If there are multiple palms associated with the machine all are selected by default, choose clear all to unselect all and then select the name you wish to install to.
• Click install
• Wait for the hotsync icon to appear and hotsync the palm
• Newer/faster machines this might not seem to happen but it does on the machine I have been testing things on
  
• Click finish when the hotsync is finished
• At this point you should have performed a hotsync two times
• The second part will now install
• Click install
  
• Again wait for the hotsync icon to appear and hotsync
• Click finish
• At this point you should have performed a hotsync three times
• You are now done, to check to make sure things have installed properly launch the Horizon program
• Click Menu then Misc then Preferences
• If the First and Last name of the person who is getting the palm after the install is over is in the Driver field then you have no problems and can begin using the palm
